Welcome to the website of contemporary Irish artist Brian Cahill. The purpose of this website is to publish the gallery of works of art produced by Brian Cahill and to explore the whole process of creativity. In this exploration of the creative process Brian Cahill hopes to visit a variety of artists to discover the process of their development and to examine not so much the finished product but more so the path taken to create the finished piece.

Brian Cahill believes that we all have the ability to create. No matter who we are or what our abilities may be we are all influenced by creativity and we all participate in the process of creation whether we realise it or not. Brian believes that it is important not to just reproduce what we see but be inspired by what we see in order to produce something new.

Consider one of the greatest inventions the world has ever seen. There was a time when it did not exist and then there was a time when it was created and the world has never abandoned it. This product is the wheel. It has been with us for centuries and it is still turning. Someone had to create it. It first had to be created in the mind and tried out in order for it to become a reality and it is still in a constant process of development. The moment of perfection will never be reached because another improvement will be created to outperform the previous one.

Looking at the world of art consider a landscape painting. Suppose all the colours are changed by the artist and red becomes blue and orange becomes purple; yellow becomes red and green becomes orange;  and so on through the colours even swapping black for white. What kind of landscape would that be and would it be recognisable as a landscape at all? It is creative and in the creative environment things are changed, rules are broken, risks are taken and something that the world has never seen is created.
